Geometry of Nature
Combined 200 m² Apartment, Moscow
Project created in collaboration with architect Varya Shalito
Shortlisted for the Design Now 2024 award
This interior was designed for a large family with four children. To create a comfortable space, we combined two 100 m² apartments into one.
"The young family’s main wish was to maintain a sense of spaciousness and airiness in the apartment, using minimal color—if any, only natural shades. The hostess is a florist and loves live plants. Therefore, it was important to introduce biophilic motifs into the common area and subtly accentuate them with window textiles."
"Despite the apartment’s irregular shape, we managed to plan everything so that each family member had their own bright corner. The ‘adult' part of the apartment was designed to reflect the entire space’s openness. We combined the kitchen and dining area, placing a small living room behind a load-bearing wall. In the ‘children's' section, the space is divided into four rooms of equal size. A small atrium was transformed into a play area with a projector and an impressive wooden shelving unit. To ensure the long corridor adjacent to the children’s rooms always had daylight, we designed skylights under the ceiling in the rooms. This way, the corridor area became an integral part of the entire space."
